Community Rules

Introduction and purpose

MOVEMENTS is a digital platform designed to facilitate the creation and development of movements that generate positive change in society. Anyone can transform an individual cause into a collective movement, meaning MOVEMENTS is an open platform for everyone.

Alongside this openness, these Community Rules establish the standards of conduct and content necessary to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all users. Compliance with these rules is mandatory for all platform members.

Violation of these rules may result in content removal, visibility restrictions, temporary suspension, or permanent account deletion, depending on the severity and recurrence of violations, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions and the Agreement with Creators.

1. Illegal content and harmful speech

1.1 Hate speech and discrimination

Any content that directly or indirectly attacks, disparages, discriminates against, or incites discrimination against persons or groups based on protected characteristics is strictly prohibited, including but not limited to:

  • Age, skin color, disability, ethnic or national origin, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, medical condition, mental health status, nationality, citizenship, immigration status, race, religion, philosophical beliefs, sex, gender, marital status, socioeconomic status, or veteran status.

This prohibition includes:

  • Coded language, euphemisms, or indirect references designed to evade detection
  • Conspiracy theories directed against protected groups
  • Denial of documented crimes against humanity
  • Promotion of supremacist ideologies

Hate organizations and symbols: the publication, promotion, or support of content related to organizations recognized as hate groups by national or international monitoring institutions is prohibited, including their symbols, logos, slogans, or propaganda.

1.2 Legal compliance

Users must comply with all applicable laws in their respective jurisdictions and in the jurisdictions where MOVEMENTS operates. This includes, without limitation:

  • Data protection and privacy laws
  • Regulations on activism and public demonstrations
  • Regulations on economic activity and fundraising
  • Intellectual property rights
  • Prohibitions on fraudulent or deceptive activities

2. Safety and protection

2.1 Protection of minors

Publication of minor information: only parents, legal guardians, or persons with documented parental authority may publish personally identifiable information of minors, including full names, photographs, videos, specific locations, or any data that allows identification.

Child abuse material: the publication, distribution, request, or facilitation of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is strictly prohibited. Accounts involved will be immediately disabled and reported to authorities.

Age restrictions: users must be at least 18 years of age, unless local laws establish a different minimum age for majority.

2.2 Privacy and personally identifiable information

The unauthorized publication of private personal information is prohibited, including:

  • Personal email addresses
  • Official identification numbers (ID cards, passports, licenses)
  • Financial information (card numbers, bank accounts)
  • Private residential or commercial addresses
  • Personal phone numbers
  • Biometric data
  • Private medical information
  • Images of people in private spaces without explicit consent

Exception: the publication of official contact information of institutions, companies, and organizations is permitted when relevant to the promoted cause.

2.3 Hostile conduct and intimidation

Any form of harassment, intimidation, or hostile behavior is prohibited, including:

  • Direct or indirect threats of physical, sexual, or psychological violence
  • Persistent or systematic harassment (digital stalking)
  • Trolling behavior designed to provoke conflict
  • Bullying or targeted intimidation
  • Doxxing or malicious disclosure of private information
  • Creation of content designed to humiliate or shame specific individuals

2.4 Public safety and dangerous content

Content that may represent a risk to public safety is prohibited, including:

Instructions for dangerous activities:

  • Manufacturing of weapons, explosives, or toxic substances
  • Methods to cause significant environmental damage
  • Sabotage or vandalism techniques
  • Instructions for illegal activities

Terrorist content:

  • Promotion, glorification, or incitement to terrorism
  • Recruitment for terrorist organizations
  • Instructions for terrorist acts
  • Financing or material support for terrorist activities

Dangerous medical information:

  • Unqualified medical advice that may cause harm
  • Promotion of unproven or dangerous treatments
  • Misinformation about vaccines or medications

2.5 Self-harm and sensitive content

Content that promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for:

  • Physical or psychological self-harm
  • Suicide or suicidal ideation
  • Eating disorders
  • Substance abuse

Exception: educational and supportive discussion on these topics is permitted when appropriate warnings and help resources are included.

3. Violence and disturbing content

Any content that:

  • Incites, promotes, or glorifies physical violence
  • Contains graphic images of violence without clear educational or informative justification
  • Threatens violence against specific individuals or groups
  • Provides detailed instructions for violent acts

Exception: documentation of violence is permitted when relevant to human rights causes, social justice, or accountability, provided appropriate warnings are included.

4. Information integrity and authenticity

4.1 False information and manipulation

The creation, distribution, or amplification of:

Disinformation: factually incorrect information created or shared with malicious intent.

Misinformation: factually incorrect information shared without adequate verification.

Media manipulation: digitally altered audiovisual content (deepfakes, audio/video manipulation) without clear labeling.

Electoral interference: false information about electoral processes, voting dates, eligibility requirements, or voting procedures.

Defamation: false statements of fact that damage the reputation of individuals or organizations.

4.2 Integrity of movements and petitions

Once a petition or movement has obtained significant community support:

  • The central demand must remain consistent with the version that obtained initial support
  • Refinements in language, addition of context, or clarifications are permitted
  • Fundamental changes to the objective or main demand are prohibited
  • Any substantial modification must be clearly communicated to followers

4.3 Impersonation and deception

The following is prohibited:

  • Impersonation of individuals, organizations, or entities
  • Creation of fake accounts or multiple accounts by the same user to evade restrictions
  • Misrepresentation of affiliations, credentials, or authority
  • Artificial coordination to amplify content (astroturfing)
  • Manipulation of engagement metrics

4.4 Fraud and scams

Any form of fraudulent activity is prohibited, including:

Financial fraud:

  • False or deceptive fundraising
  • Misappropriation of funds intended for specific causes
  • Ponzi or pyramid schemes
  • Direct requests for monetary transfers without verification

Links to external fundraisers: only links to verified and recognized fundraising platforms are permitted. The following are prohibited:

  • Direct links to personal payment accounts (PayPal, Venmo, etc.)
  • Cryptocurrency addresses
  • Bank account numbers
  • Payment QR codes without verifiable context

5. Intellectual property

Users must respect all intellectual property rights, including:

  • Copyright: do not publish protected content without explicit authorization
  • Trademarks: do not use third-party trademarks in a way that may cause confusion
  • Attribution: provide appropriate recognition when using third-party content under permissive licenses
  • Fair use: any use of protected material must comply with applicable fair use exceptions

6. Platform scope and purpose

6.1 Appropriate content for the platform

MOVEMENTS is specifically designed for civic, social, and public interest causes. Content must be aligned with the purpose of generating positive social change.

Prohibited content:

  • Primary commercial promotion or spam
  • Explicit sexual content, pornography, or nudity
  • Content unrelated to social or civic causes
  • Nonsensical, spam, or irrelevant material

Limited commercial content: commercial content is only permitted when directly related to a social cause.

6.2 Coordination of offline activities

Content related to in-person activities must:

  • Comply with local regulations on demonstrations and gatherings
  • Include accurate information about required permits
  • Not incite illegal or violent activities
  • Provide safety information when appropriate
